RoadRunner Touring Weekend – Snowshoe, WV 2014
UPDATE:
This weekend was a bit unusual. I personally would not go back. I loved the roads we went on, but for the money spent with RoadRunner I expected more. The roads were amazing. and I think that going on my own would have been more fun.
Let me clarify. The food was fantastic, the lodging and accommodations not so fantastic. The first thing you need to know is that this area has little to no Cell Phone coverage. Satellite is sketchy at best, it is labeled as a quiet zone for cell signal. This type of event is suited for those that enjoy high speed twists and turns and don’t expect that the guide will wait for you. You are basically on your own. We had riders go down and they never even came back to see if we were alive. If we did not make contact they would have left us to die. I know that sounds harsh, but it is the total truth.
We did find some beautiful roads and I would recommend riding this area with people you are use to riding with and not attending an event like this. There were many places to see and many fantastic roads to ride.
This trip was not one I would go on again, but it may be something you might like to try. We did have fun and I am not unhappy that I went, I just no that it is not for me. They ride much different than we do. I enjoy the journey, they seem to want to get there as fast as they can.

About the Event
Established in 2006, the RoadRUNNER Touring Weekend is held each year in memory of the magazine’s founder, Christian Neuhauser. RoadRUNNER team members, subscribers, and anyone with a passion for motorcycles and for fun are welcome to attend! This year, we’re headed back to an indoor space at the Expo Center on the beautiful ski resort property of Snowshoe. No vendors, no bands, just good ole’ fashioned camaraderie and riding! This area has some of the country’s best roads for motorcyclists with countless twisties and a stunning mountainous landscape, some could mistake West Virginia for the Alps.
In addition to the amazing roads, Snowshoe Resort offers plenty of other fun summer activities to try including golf, hiking, scenic lift rides, and fishing. And there is a pool, restaurants, and bars all on site.
