Ride For The Heroes 9/11 – September Members Meeting
The stage is set once again for our chapter meeting/Ride For The Heroes 9/11. We will be signing in and staging at Hannum's. KSU will be promptly at 9:15 and we will head to Newtown Veterans Park (30 miles). We will have police escort from Hannum's to intersection 113 and 611. From there the the other agencies along the route have been informed that we will be coming and will block the major intersections for us in their jurisdictions. The overall rating of ride including Hannum's and the Ride For The Heroes, which goes through New Hope and New Jersey, is rated at 2 (Intermediate) and approximately 80 miles one way. Helmets required in New Jersey. The Ride For the Heroes itself is approximately 50+ miles and will end at the FOP Picnic Grounds, 82 Scott Road, Bedminster Township, Pa. @ 1:30ish. First Sunday Ride to Ephrata PA 2016
This ride is an early morning ride, but a great one. If you have never been there, I highly recommend it and if you have, you usually want to go again. We leave early so when we arrive, we get there for a Buffet style breakfast that benefits the American Legion post. Then you walk around meet new people, see old friends, and see TONS of motorcycles, check out the vendors before heading back home. Continue reading
Tips to Avoid Dehydration While Motorcycling
Many motorcyclists don’t factor in the dangers of dehydration when going out on a long ride on a hot summer’s day. There could be many reasons for this, but one has to be that many riders don’t see riding their motorbike as a strenuous sports activity, like football or a workout at the gym for example. The act is that many variables exist that affect motorcyclist while out on the road, and these can combine to make dehydration a serious and potentially lethal problem. Continue reading
