Lisa is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments after removing a volleyball-sized tumor from her uterus. She’s been diagnosed with Clear Cell Ovarian Cancer, and will most likely need open heart surgery from blood clotting issues related to the tumor. Lisa Depew’s Story as told by her husband.
My name is Chris Depew. I’m trying to raise funds to offset debt from my wife’s medical expenses.
One January morning earlier this year, my beloved wife Lisa was feeling lightheaded and suddenly passed out. After what seemed like an eternity, the ambulance finally arrived and she was taken to the hospital where she stayed for two weeks while they argued over what caused her to faint. The consensus was that she had developed blood clots throughout her body, most prominently in her lungs where they call it a pulmonary embolism.
They recommended a trip to the gynecologist, where doctors found a mass the size of a grapefruit that seems to have been the cause of the clots. After testing, the mass was confirmed to be Clear Cell Ovarian Cancer. In the week and a half of preparation for surgery, they also found a blood clot that traveled to her right heart valve and damaged the right ventricle. This further complicated things, since the only way to repair this damage is through open heart surgery.
When it came time for surgery to remove the mass, it had grown to the size of a volleyball and attached itself to several internal organs. Clear Cell is a very aggressive type of ovarian cancer, and we’re lucky it was found in time. Our doctor was able to remove the tumor, but not before it had burst, creating a dire need for 18 weeks of chemotherapy to rid the body of any lingering cancer cells. Lisa is currently undergoing her chemo treatments while we await her doctors to schedule the open heart surgery, possibly right in the middle of the 18-week timeframe.
We’re both on Medicare insurance only, and would love any help you might be able to give. $25,000 is barely scratching the surface, but it will help. We appreciate your time and donations. With your help, I think we can acheive this goal. Thank you and God bless you all!
